Bogdanka, PGE Dystrybucja and the municipality of Łęczna commence cooperation on a new economic zone
Lubelski Węgiel "Bogdanka" S.A., PGE Dystrybucja S.A. Oddział Lublin and the Municipality of Łęczna have signed a letter of intent on cooperation in creation of a new economic zone in the Podzamcze and Stara Wieś villages in the municipality of Łęczna. The planned zone will cover the total area of approximately 180 hectares and shall become a space for the development of modern industry, investment and new jobs.
The parties have declared joint actions aimed at preparing investment areas, including equipping them with the necessary infrastructure, in particular energy infrastructure. The estimated electricity demand of future investors is approximately 80 MW. PGE Dystrybucja S.A. will act as the distribution system operator for the planned zone.
The economic zone project is a real element of our strategy for the development and diversification of Bogdanka. In addition to stable coal production, we are consistently building the foundations for new industrial functions in the region, thinking about the future of our employees and the entire Lublin region,

The letter of intent provides for developing a concept for supplying the zone with electricity, determining the necessary consents and legal titles to the real estate and estimating the costs of implementing the infrastructure. Detailed schedules and conditions of connections shall be specified in separate agreements.
The development of electricity grids is a very important factor affecting the development of the economy. The letter signed shall be valid for a period of two years and constitutes a formal declaration of the Parties' willingness to cooperate in the implementation of the economic zone project.
The planned economic zone is one of the most important development impulses in the history of Łęczna since the foundation of the Bogdanka mine. The project opens up real prospects for deployment of new businesses, creation of thousands of jobs and sustainable strengthening of the municipality's income base. This provides Łęczna with a solid foundation for further sustainable development and implementation of ambitious investment projects that benefit residents,
