CULTURE
Lublin Musical Theater
Lublin Musical Theater is a performance stage presenting a broad range of productions: from opera, through musical, operettas, ballet, concerts, to fables and educational performances. By combining over 70 years’ worth of tradition with a modern angle on the performing arts, the Theater provides a delightfully strong repertoire, state-of-the-art stage equipment and an ensemble of extraordinarily talented artists: soloists, choir, as well as ballet dancers and orchestra.
Situated in the heart of the city, the Lublin Musical Theater is one of the chief drama and musical stages, whose performances are enjoyed by both Lublin inhabitants as well as visitors and tourists.
H. Ch. Andersen Theater in Lublin
The H. Ch. Andersen Theater in Lublin is the only institutional theatrical stage for children and young people in the Lublin Region, and one of three such institutions in eastern Poland. Every year, it is visited by over 42,000 spectators, with the audience numbers growing steadily. For a number of seasons now, the theater has embarked on interesting theatrical projects, being also engaged in broadly-ranging educational activity.
The theater’s ambition is to create new, original drama productions, performed both in Poland and abroad.
Vistula Museum in Kazimierz Dolny
The Vistula Museum in Kazimierz Dolny operates six Branches in three locations. Four Branches are located in Kazimierz Dolny: Dom Kuncewiczów (Kuncewicz’s House), Kamienica Celejowska (Merchant Celej’s House), Oddział Przyrodniczy (Museum of Nature Branch) and Muzeum Sztuki Złotniczej (Goldsmithing Art Museum). The two remaining Branches are: Grodzisko Żmijowiska (Żmijowska Fort) in Wilków municipality, 16 km away from Kazimierz Dolny, and Zamek w Janowcu (Janowiec Castle).
The mission of the Museum comprises in particular: collection of items of historical value - cataloging and description of the collection, securing of collections and monuments, organization of permanent and temporary exhibitions, organization of research studies and expeditions, educational activities, making collections available for educational purposes, ensuring adequate visitors’ viewing conditions, and publishing.
SPORT
Górnik Łęczna
Górnik Łęczna is the highest First League ranking football club in the Lublin Region, which has performed in the top division for eight seasons now. Through its Foundation, the Club runs the Sports Academy, training over 400 male and female athletes in three disciplines: football, badminton and running.
The Club has been awarded the Golden Certificate of Youth Football Schools by the Polish Football Association and is the only one in the Lubelskie Voivodeship holding the distinction of meeting the highest standards in football coaching for children and young people. For four years now, the foundation Fundacja Górnika (Miner Foundation) has run the first and only Sports Champions School (football) at the Secondary School level.
The Company has uninterruptedly been the Górnik Łęczna Strategic Sponsor from its very beginnings, i.e. since 1979.
Speedway Motor Lublin
Motor Lublin is Poland’s team champion in the world’s best speedway league: the PGE Extra League. It was a historic success of the club from Bystrzyca, scored in 2022.
Motor Lublin is currently the most recognizable sports club east of the Vistula river, with thousands of fans in the Lublin Region and other Polish cities. Packed spectator audiences, tickets sold out in minutes and best fans in the country, watching competitions even from aerial panels, is the recognition mark of the Lublin-based club.
The team includes, among others, Mateusz Cierniak, the current world juniors champion; and in the new 2023 season, the bib of the popular speedway champions will be worn by Bartosz Zmarzlik, the current world seniors champion.
MGKS Gwarek Łęczna
Since its establishment in 1995, the Gwarek Łęczna City-Mining Sports Club is a sports club specializing in boxing. It is the only boxing club in the Łęczna county, and one of the 16 clubs in the Lublin district.
Gwarek Łęczna’s history is inseparable from that of the Bogdanka Mine, whose employees founded a sports association 27 years ago. Gwarek Łęczna is also a holder of the most boxing titles and awards among the clubs under the umbrella of the Lublin District Boxing Union.
At present, the club coaches over 50 athletes of both genders.
MKS Avia Świdnik
With over 70-years of tradition, Avia Świdnik is the most eminent volleyball club in the Lublin Region. Its greatest success was the 3rd place in Polish Championships in the 1975/1976 season. Well-recognized players, including Tomasz Wójtowicz and Lech Łasko, represented the Avia colors.
At present, since the 2020/2021 season, the club takes part in the TAURON First League tournaments, a springboard to the Plus League. The volleyball club coaches over one hundred children and young people, with its aim to train young players based on the system prepared by MKS Avia Świdnik, as well as to consistently develop its frontline male volleyball team.
Chełm Sports Club
The Chełm Sports Club comprises: Chełmianka Chełm – the football club taking part in the Polish Football Association third league tournaments, and CHKS Arka Chełm - the volleyball club participating in the Polish Volleyball Association second league tournaments. The former club has a rich, almost 70-year history and many successes in its track record; the second club, although still young (established in 2016) has high aspirations, including entry into the next tournament level (First Tauron League).
In the previous 2022/2023 season, both clubs were among the leaders of their tournament boards, fighting to get into the next league level until the very last match. Both Chełmianka Chełm and ChKS Arka are very well recognizable in the Lublin Region, with large fan followings.
Szymon Ładniak
At less than 20 years old, Szymon is a young racing driver, competing on racing tracks of Poland and Europe for five seasons now. Having noticed his huge potential, almost five years ago the Company decided to offer its financial support, which undoubtedly has contributed to the development of Szymon’s talent and success. In the 2022 season, Szymon won the junior tournament in the very popular racing series of ADAC TCR Germany. He finished the season ranking third in the general classification.
Polski Cukier AZS UMCS Lublin
For many years now, the female basketball team of Pszczółki Polski Cukier AZS UMCS Lublin belongs to the leading teams of the Energa Basket Women’s League. In the 2021/22 season, Pszczółki (the Bees) scored a historic success by winning the Vice-Championship of Poland. The team also rendered an admirable performance internationally, reaching 1/8 finals in the EuroCup tournament.
The club also provides a high level of coaching for children and young people. As from the 2022/2023 season, all young person teams compete under the name of Bogdanka AZS UMCS Lublin.
KPR Padwa Zamość
Padwa Zamość is the only club from Zamość taking part in the all-country team tournament. As from the 2018/2019 season, the senior team has continuously competed at the second tournament level in men’s handball. Padwa is a club of major significance for the local community. Every match is a celebration of Zamość-based sports, with full spectator stands.
Padwa does not only stand for its seniors team, but also for the young hopes of the discipline, who for many years now have been accolated in the region and at the country-wide level.
GKS Górnik Łęczna
Górniczy Klub Sportowy Górnik Łęczna (Miners’ Sports Club Łęczna) is one of the most distinguished female football clubs in Poland, holding three Polish championships (in the 2017/18, 2018/19, 2019/20 seasons), and four silver and bronze medals of Polish championships. In its history, the club has been a two-time holder of the Polish Cup.
The team includes the current national representation members in various age categories. The club is the pride of the town and the region.
