Risk management and compliance

Taking into account the Corporate Strategy, we declare that we will make all efforts to:

  • maintain a strong and stable position in the industry by continuous improvement of the organisation in all areas, while meeting the needs and requirements of current and future customers, 
  • develop close and mutually beneficial contacts with customers, suppliers and other relevant stakeholders not only in the area of production quality, but also in the area of environmental protection and occupational health and safety, 
  • optimise operations in a sustainable manner and in compliance with the objectives set; 
  • ensure that our activities fully comply with the standards as well as legal and other requirements that apply to us,
  • prevent pollution by mitigating the negative impact on the environment and the climate in order to improve the environmental
  • performance of activities, by protecting the air and reducing the carbon footprint, rational use of water, protection of biodiversity and valuable natural resources, rational waste management and land reclamation
  • eliminate hazards and reduce occupational health and safety risks,
  • improve the occupational health and safety status on a continuous basis to prevent work-related injuries and health problems,
  • promote occupational safety and provide opportunities for those working under the Company's supervision or their representatives to be involved in the maintenance and improvement of the management system by providing consultation and participation arrangements related to occupational health and safety topics.

The coordination of and oversight over the effective implementation of the Policy will be conducted as part of the Integrated Quality, Environmental and OHS Management System conforming to the requirements of the standards that form the foundation of the system: PN-EN ISO 9001:2015, PN-EN ISO 14001:2015 and PN-EN ISO 45001:2024.

The scope of the Integrated Management System covers the requirements of the PN-EN ISO 9001:2015-10*, PN-EN ISO 14001:2015-09, PN-EN ISO 45001:2024-02 standards as part of the activities related to mining, production and sale of commercial coal (i.e. chestnut coal, pea coal and fine coal).

In addition, the Integrated Management System covers the head office of Lubelski Węgiel BOGDANKA Spółka Akcyjna in Bogdanka and the mining area: Puchaczów V, Stręczyn and Ludwin, divided into three mining fields: Bogdanka, Stefanów and Nadrybie.

The IMS policy was developed jointly with representatives of the Company's employees and top management. It has been made available to all stakeholders including the management and all the staff for review and application.

Policy for an Integrated OHS, Quality and Environmental Management System

Our overriding values in our business are: responsibility, ethics, professionalism and transparency. These values ensure the harmonious development of the Company, pursuing its business goals with the highest standards and a proactive attitude related to environmental performance, occupational safety and community relations.

With this document, we accept the commitment to maintaining the highest quality standards for all the products we produce and manufacture. Given the special nature of the Company's operations, we are also mindful of protecting the environment and reducing undesirable environmental impacts, as well as ensuring and prioritizing the occupational safety of our employees and those who work for or on behalf of the Company.

The implementation of the above declarations is guaranteed by the attention of the top management to ensure the resources, including the means, necessary to improve the competence and motivation of all of the Company’s employees.

We identify, control and minimize potential risks to our business.

 The company has implemented Enea Group's Integrated Enterprise Risk Management System which supports taking decisions that maximize profits at an acceptable risk level. The Supervisory Board, the Management Board, the Audit Committee, as well as the Risk Management Department and risk owners, i.e. managers of organizational units, are involved in the implementation of the risk management system.

The Integrated Enterprise Risk Management System operates on the basis of:

  • LW Bogdanka Group's risk map
  • list of key and material risks of the LW Bogdanka Group

Risks that have received an aggregate rating in excess of a certain value are considered critical and key risks – material to the Group's operations
DEALING WITH RISKS
For key and critical risks, actions/programs approved by the Management Board are established to minimize them and limit the possible effects of their materialization

Compliance

All operations undertaken by the company comply with the law and our internal regulations. Compliance management at the company covers three areas – compliance of operations with generally applicable laws, compliance with the company's internal acts, and compliance with ethical standards. The Compliance Policy Department monitors ongoing compliance with the law and responds promptly if irregularities arise. In addition, since 2020, the company has had a Compliance Policy in place.
