Opportunities and risks for Bogdanka
LW Bogdanka remains the most efficient and modern mine in Poland, maintaining stable output despite an exceptionally challenging and, in some respects, non-market environment.
For many months, the company has been consistently implementing measures to enhance occupational safety, operational efficiency and the reliability of supplies to the domestic energy sector.
Comments regarding the Company’s situation appear in the public domain. Bogdanka emphasises that it operates without the systemic support that some other domestic mines have benefited from over the recent years and continue to benefit from. The absence of such mechanisms means that the Company operates in a more challenging competitive environment which affects its current operational and financial position. Nevertheless, Bogdanka maintains a high level of efficiency and remains a reliable partner for its customers.
The Company implements one of the largest optimisation programmes in its history, covering both infrastructure development and measures to improve safety, efficiency and production stability. At the same time, the implementation of the development strategy, which strengthens Bogdanka’s long-term resilience, is continued.
The Management Board maintains an ongoing dialogue with trade unions, local residents and the external environment. As a responsible and transparent listed company, Bogdanka informs its employees and stakeholders regularly and reliably about the Company’s key activities and the challenges it faces.
In the opinion of the Management Board, Bogdanka’s future must be built on a broad social consensus, a deep understanding of the complexity of the situation and cooperation across divisions. We urge politicians from all parties to remove the issues of the mine from the political dispute, to adopt a cooperative approach and to build a broad coalition for the future of Bogdanka.
