Bogdanka successfully passed the certification audit

On 14-17 May 2024, Bogdanka was audited for recertification against the requirements of ISO 9001 (quality), ISO 14001 (environment) and ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety). The audit was conducted by the certification body TÜV Nord Polska.

The purpose of the audit was to assess the compliance of the management system with the criteria (standard requirements, processes, system documentation), evaluate the effectiveness of the system and the appropriateness of the scope of certification.
The audit was carried out by 5 auditors in a total of 60 organizational units of the Company, including a site visit around the Bogdanka Field and the Coal Preparation Plant, as well as going underground in the Bogdanka and Stefanów Fields.
The audit ended with a positive result, no non-conformities were found, thus Bogdanka became a certificate holder in the field of mining, production and sale of commercial coal.
The auditors identified a number of strengths of the organization, among others:

  • careful and detailed approach to keeping system documentation and strong commitment from coordinators,
  • creation of a file of chemical materials and identification of factors harmful to health resulting from the use of chemicals,
  • implementation of conveyor belt longitudinal rip signaling,
  • pro-education activities to build awareness of mining traditions
  • launch of a 3MW photovoltaic farm

Lubelski Węgiel Bogdanka S.A. is a leading hard coal producer in Poland that stands apart from its peers in terms of its modern and efficient mining. It is one of the largest Polish hard coal mines. Lubelski Węgiel Bogdanka S.A. chiefly conducts mining operations in terms of hard coal extraction, enrichment and sales. It supplies this raw material mainly to industrial offtakers. Supply contracts are long-term, and the product is sold to the commercial power sector and the industrial power sector.

The company has been listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange since June of 2009. In August 2022, Lubelski Węgiel Bogdanka S.A. returned to listing on the WIG-ESG Index.

Since October of 2015 Bogdanka has been a member of the Enea Group, the second largest player on Poland’s electrical power market in terms of the generation of electricity, which manages the entire value chain on the electricity market ranging from fuel to the generation of electricity, distribution, sales (supply) and customer service.
