Bogdanka monitors seismic situation in the region
LW Bogdanka confirms that a series of several seismic tremors were recorded on the night of 27-28 December 2024. These tremors were felt at the mine site, but did not affect its operation or occupational safety.
LW Bogdanka's seismic monitoring system recorded a tremor at 1:07 a.m. as the second strongest in 2024; according to the GSIS scale (Mining Seismic Intensity Scale), it was classified as “0”, i.e. not causing damage. The mine has 10 measuring stations in place on the surface, five of which recorded the incident. It is worth mentioning that these types of shocks are common in areas where mining activity takes place.
Bogdanka has conducted systematic monitoring and analysis of seismic phenomena at the area of its operations for years. The Company cooperates with the competent institutions and regularly informs local authorities of areas where the seismic activity of the rock mass may be more strongly felt. The most recent tremors took place exactly in the region indicated on the map presented on 17 December during the meeting of the Covenant Team with representatives of local authorities and the District Mining Authority.
We ensure that the safety of employees, infrastructure and the local environment remains our top priority. LW Bogdanka performs detailed analyses of each seismic event and maintains continuous contacts with the relevant services to mitigate potential risks and provide reliable information.
