LW Bogdanka and Górnik Łęczna with a new agreement

LW Bogdanka, which has been involved in the development of local sport and the support of the Górnik Łęczna team for many years, is concluding a new two-year sponsorship agreement.

Górnik Łęczna is a very important partner for us and we appreciate the role it plays in our environment. Many years’ cooperation with the club has demonstrated our commitment to the region and the promotion of sport. We committed to the club for better or worse, and this will continue for the next two years. Support for Górnik Łęczna accounts for the largest percentage of the Company's sponsorship budget, even when we add up the support for the other professional teams from the region that Bogdanka sponsors

- says Zbigniew Stopa, President of the Management Board of LW Bogdanka.

The new agreement involves the Club's commitment to prepare and implement a development programme that will increase the level of financial independence of Górnik Łęczna, optimise costs and strengthen the cooperation with local authorities and business.

We are proud that for the next two seasons we will continue to play together in the green and black team. The extension of the agreement with Bogdanka means great news for the whole community with Górnik Łęczna in its heart, especially that the awareness of the energy transition imposes many challenges that our strategic sponsor has to address. We believe that this cooperation will translate into effects that will be the result of planned, well-thought-out actions, and not a coincidence

- notes Maciej Grzywa, President of the Management Board of Górnik Łęczna S.A.

Along with updating its business assumptions, Bogdanka is changing its approach to sponsorship activities, focusing on the rationalisation of expenditure and on projects of greatest importance to the local community. Ensuring safety and jobs for employees remains a priority for the Company, which requires adapting the Strategy to new economic reality, including lower demand for thermal coal and the challenges related to energy transition. At the same time, in the forthcoming years Bogdanka plans further optimisation of its sponsorship activities, adapting them to market challenges and business priorities.

The partnership with Górnik Łęczna is a part of our strategic approach to sponsorship, which focuses on initiatives that have a real impact on the local community. We mainly support projects that generate long-term benefits for inhabitants of the region. In the nearest future, we are going to put special emphasis on the development of sports infrastructure and support for young people. An example is the newly built balloon pitch in Łęczna, which will be put into operation in the first half of the year. Bogdanka contributed to the costs of this investment, as we believe that modern sports facilities are the foundation for the development of future generations of athletes.

– said Artur Wasilewski, the Vice President of the Management Board for Economic and Financial Affairs at LW Bogdanka.

The increased support for sport of children and young people is a particularly important element of Bogdanka's new Sponsorship Strategy. The Company believes that, combined with the changing sports infrastructure of the Górnik Łęczna facilities, this approach will translate into promotion of a healthy and active lifestyle among the youngest inhabitants of the region.

For eight seasons, Górnik Łęczna competed in the group of the best teams in Poland and for more than thirty years it has continuously played at the central level. This season the team is playing at the lower end of Ekstraklasa, in Betclic 1. liga. The Green-Blacks are not only a senior team, but also a football academy awarded a gold certificate by the Polish Football Association (PZPN) - the only one in the Lublin region. Górnik’s academy currently trains over four hundred young male and female footballers.
