LW Bogdanka intends to export its know-how to India and countries of the global South

Lubelski Węgiel Bogdanka S.A. continues to expand its presence in foreign markets, particularly in India and countries of the global South. During the 6th Polish Mining Congress, the company signed the agreement on establishment of the “IndusComp” Polish Industrial Competence Cluster and, in parallel, launched its cooperation with the British company, Mining Competence & Advisory Ltd under the previously concluded Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The MoU with Mining Competence & Advisory Ltd has opened the opportunities for joint activities in technical and project consulting, including for upcoming investments in the Indian market. Bogdanka and its partner are preparing for the participation in the tender for the Arjuni East mine. The scope of cooperation also includes the transfer of knowledge and experience in the area of mechanisation of underground mining, organisation of training, personnel and operating support as well as participation of Bogdanka in the international Mining Competence Community (MCC) platform. Bogdanka has already established a dedicated working group to coordinate joint projects.

The second document is the agreement on the establishment of the “IndusComp” Polish Industrial Competence Cluster. Its aim is to support foreign expansion of Polish companies and the implementation of joint industrial projects in the markets of Asia, the Middle East and Africa, as well as the commercialisation of products and services in these markets and the use of available funding sources, both domestic and international. The cluster also assumes a possibility of establishing an operating company to act as a vehicle for international investment projects in the future.

11 signatories of the cluster include the "Bogdanka" Group (LW Bogdanka S.A.), Elgór+Hansen S.A., the Powen-Wafapomp S.A. Group, Fabryka Maszyn i Urządzeń "OMAG" Sp. z o.o., ARNAP Sp. z o.o., Chamber of Commerce for Exporters and Importers in Mysłowice, Mine Master Sp. z o.o., LENA Wilków Sp. z o.o., KOMAG Institute of Mining Technology, P.P.H.U. MARTECH-PLUS Sp. J. and Linter S.A.

This is an important step towards building Bogdanka's long-term presence in foreign markets. We have unique underground mining know-how that may provide the foundation for joint ventures with industrial partners worldwide. Participation in initiatives such as MCC or the IndusComp cluster also provides the opportunity to learn directly about the specific nature of mining in other countries and to join projects of international dimension,

- emphasised Bartosz Rożnawski, Vice-President of the Management Board for Production at LW Bogdanka.

Bogdanka is active and present in several projects associated with exports of Polish mining know-how. Signing of both documents paves the way for the company’s wider presence in India and other overseas markets and confirms Bogdanka's ambition to strengthen its role in the global value chain.

We have been building competence in modern underground mining for years, achieving the top global level in many areas. One of the directions of expansion outlined in our current strategy is the development of this competence also abroad. Due to the new partnerships, we have the opportunity to use our experience in the markets of India and the Global South, while strengthening the position of the Polish industry internationally,

- said Sławomir Krenczyk, Vice-President of the Management Board for Development at LW Bogdanka.
