Bogdanka's photovoltaic farm nearing completion
The main assembly work on the construction of a new photovoltaic farm in Bogdanka, Lubelskie Voivodeship, has been completed. The 5.66-hectare plot has already 5,552 high-efficiency, double-sided photovoltaic panels assembled. The new farm will have a capacity of 3 MWp.
This is LW Bogdanka's first photovoltaic farm. It is located in an industrial area, in close proximity to the Bogdanka mine and railroad tracks, which are used to transport hard coal. The farm itself occupies an area equal to 9 football fields. A significant part of this area, i.e. about 77%, is natural greenery (the so-called biologically active area). The farm's peak power output is comparable to the electricity needs of all the mine's surface buildings on days when there is no underground work. The design and construction of the farm took 16 months. The project will cost nearly PLN 11.5 million.
The construction of the farm is proof that we are already seriously implementing the provisions of our new Strategy, which envisages Bogdanka's investments in RES. Let me remind you that ultimately our company wants to have approx. 500 MW of renewable capacity. Thus, this is our first step towards the Company's transformation and towards green energy
said Kasjan Wyligała, President of the LW Bogdanka Management Board.
On our first farm, we used high-efficiency, double-sided monocrystalline panels with a PERC layer. The panels come with a 12-year product warranty and a 30-year linear power warranty. We will analyze in detail all the parameters of the installation on an ongoing basis as we plan to ultimately expand the farm up to 30 MWp
says Dariusz Dumkiewicz, Vice-president of the Management Board for Trade and Investment at LW Bogdanka.
We already have appropriate 6kV MV connections (for transmission of produced energy), 0.4kV LV connections (for our own needs and overhauls), copper and fiber optic ICT connections for telemechanics, control and visualization. We hope that, according to the agreement, the first electricity from the farm will flow in early August
assesses Dariusz Dumkiewicz.
