Bogdanka, Lublin and Łęczna are joining forces to promote the region’s economic development
Lubelski Węgiel ‘Bogdanka’ S.A., the Municipality of Lublin and the Municipality of Łęczna are joining forces to develop the Investment Zone in Łęczna. The letter of intent signed by the parties paves the way for the exchange of experiences, best practices and information, which will help in preparing an attractive offer for future investors.
The initiative to establish an Investment Zone in Łęczna was launched by Bogdanka, the Municipality of Łęczna and the Industrial Development Agency. Its aim is to create conditions favourable to the development of enterprises and Polish industry, the implementation of innovative solutions and the creation of new jobs. The city of Lublin, which, as a co-founder of the Lublin Sub-zone of the EURO-PARK Mielec Special Economic Zone, has experience in preparing, developing and managing investment areas, has been brought on board to cooperate.
For many years, the Bogdanka Coal Mine has been one of the most important employers and economic pillars of the Lublin region. The Investment Zone in Łęczna is intended to harness the potential of this area, attract new businesses and create long-term jobs. Cooperation on this project will allow us to draw on our partners’ experience in developing investment sites and successfully attracting investors. This is an important step towards the region’s responsible economic transformation
– says Zbigniew Stopa, President of the Management Board of Lubelski Węgiel ‘Bogdanka’ S.A.
For years, Lublin has been consistently building its reputation as an investor-friendly location. Today, we want to use our experience and tried-and-tested solutions to strengthen the competitiveness of the entire Lublin Metropolitan Area. By combining the potential of Lublin, the Łęczna municipality and Lubelski Węgiel ‘Bogdanka’ S.A., we are creating an attractive proposition for investors, supporting the diversification of the economy and the just transition of the region. This is an investment in new jobs, the development of modern industries and a stronger position for the Lublin agglomeration on the economic map of Poland and Europe
– says Krzysztof Żuk, Mayor of Lublin.
The cooperation will include, amongst other things: analysing the potential of investment sites, identifying infrastructure and regulatory barriers, exchanging information about investors' needs and market trends, as well as cooperating with institutions that support investment development.
Today’s agreement will allow us to draw on Lublin’s experience in establishing and developing investment zones. The Lublin economic sub-zone has been a success and today provides employment for nearly five thousand people. I hope that Mayor Krzysztof Żuk, thanks to his expertise and business contacts, will also act as an ambassador for the Investment Zone in Łęczna and help to promote it as an attractive location for new investors
– says Krzysztof Bojarski, a Member of the Polish Sejm.
The parties also provide for the organisation of working meetings, consultations and study visits, as well as the possibility of conducting joint information and promotional activities.
By combining Lublin’s experience with the industrial potential of Bogdanka and Łęczna, we are laying the foundations for new investments that will strengthen the competitiveness of the entire region. Our goal is not only to prepare attractive investment sites, but above all to build a sustainable economic ecosystem that will attract entrepreneurs and create high-quality jobs for the region’s residents. The greatest asset of the Lublin region is its people, their skills, experience and willingness to develop. Our task is to create the conditions for this potential to be fully utilised by new investors, so that the region will gain a sustainable foundation for growth and economic resilience for decades to come
– emphasises Artur Wasilewski, Vice-President of the Management Board for Economic and Financial Affairs at Lubelski Węgiel ‘Bogdanka’ S.A.
A key element of the partnership will be the use of the complementary strengths of Lublin and Łęczna. The voivodship capital city brings experience in the development of economic sub-zones, investor support and the commercialisation of land. Łęczna and Bogdanka, on the other hand, offer industrial infrastructure, access to a skilled workforce and land that may be used for new economic purposes in the future.
We are gaining another strong partner. The City of Lublin will support us with its vast expertise, experience and valuable business contacts. This is another extremely important step towards the creation of the Investment Zone in the municipality of Łęczna
– notes Leszek Włodarski, Mayor of Łęczna.
Signing of the letter of intent does not mark the end of the process of establishing the Investment Zone, but rather sets out the framework for further cooperation. The next stage will involve detailed analyses covering such areas as technical infrastructure, transport links, spatial planning and the expectations of potential investors.
The agreement has been concluded for a period of two years. During this time, the parties will undertake legal, organisational and analytical measures designed to prepare the Investment Zone in Łęczna and to enhance the investment attractiveness of the entire Lublin Voivodship.
