Bogdanka has signed a letter of intent to purchase shares in Górnik Łęczna S.A.

On Wednesday, 5 April 2023, Lubelski Węgiel Bogdanka S.A. and the GKS Górnik Łęczna Association signed a letter of intent regarding cooperation to strengthen the potential of the Górnik Łęczna Sports Club, one of whose main goals will be to achieve further sporting success.

The signing ceremony was held at the club's headquarters on Wednesday, 5 April 2023, just before Górnik Łęczna's historic match against Raków Częstochowa in the Polish Cup semifinals. The signatories of the letter decided that they would take action to bring about the purchase by Lubelski Węgiel "Bogdanka" SA of 100% of Górnik Łęczna’s assets owned by the GKS "Górnik" Łęczna Association.

Sponsorship of Górnik Łęczna is a long-term project for us and has been one of the most important elements of Bogdanka's sponsorship strategy for many years. Let me remind you that the mine has been inextricably linked with the Górnik team since its inception, that is, since 1979. The letter of intent signed today will give the Company more opportunities in the future to develop Górnik's modern sports infrastructure, which will be available to everyone.

said Kasjan Wyligała,  President of the LW Bogdanka Management Board.

We also want to develop youth sports. We see a lot of potential in Górnik's academy. It is the only football academy in the Lubelskie Voivodeship that has the Golden Certificate of the Polish Football Association (PZPN). These activities should ultimately also translate into raising the sports level of the team. We equally strongly support the GKS Górnik Łęczna Association, which includes tennis and MMA sections, as well as the women's football team, which is successful not only in Poland, but also strongly marks its presence in international arenas. Today’s act is a very important step for Bogdanka and the entire sports mining family. Bogdanka wants to be a driving force for the entire Lublin region also as a responsible, stable and strong sponsor.

added Kasjan Wyligała.

According to the provisions of the document, the parties are guided by concern for the development of the region and, taking into account the parties' previous involvement in activities in the field of promotion and development of sports, cooperation was declared to strengthen the potential of GKS Górnik Łęczna and Górnik Łęczna SA aimed at achieving further sports successes.

For us, the most important goal is to continue to develop the first women's team of the GKS Górnik Łęczna Association, which has had many successes at the national and international level. Although, of course, we are not forgetting our MMA and tennis sections. Bogdanka has been a recognized patron of sports in the Lublin region for years. The Company is with us for better or worse. The support of such a company gives a sense of security and a guarantee of stable development. The hardest part was making the decision, the rest of the steps ahead are just a matter of perseverance. Today's decision is another important step for the future of sports in Łęczna.

Dawid Osowski, President of the Management Board of the GKS "Górnik" Łęczna Association, said.

This event is a clear sign for Górnik Łęczna that Bogdanka wants to tie in even more strongly with the club. This is also an important declaration that makes specific demands on the club's management. I want to leverage my extensive professional experience so as to properly carry out the process related to the integration of the club with Bogdanka. I would also like to see new sponsors at the club. I hope that, in the end, all these activities will translate into even better sports results for the Green-Blacks.
