Lubelski Węgiel “Bogdanka” S.A. hosted a seminar entitled “Pioneers – The Columbuses of the Lublin Region’s Coal: Memory, Science, Heritage”, organised jointly by the Polish Geological Institute – National Research Institute and LW “Bogdanka” S.A.
Lubelski Węgiel “Bogdanka” S.A., the Industrial Development Agency and the Municipality of Łęczna have signed a letter of intent concerning the cooperation on the preparation and development of an investment area in the territory of the municipality of Łęczna.
Lubelski Węgiel "Bogdanka" S.A., PGE Dystrybucja S.A. Oddział Lublin and the Municipality of Łęczna have signed a letter of intent on cooperation in creation of a new economic zone in the Podzamcze and Stara Wieś villages in the municipality of Łęczna. The planned zone will cover the total area of approximately 180 hectares and shall become a space for the development of modern industry, investment and new jobs.
LW Bogdanka remains the most efficient and modern mine in Poland, maintaining stable output despite an exceptionally challenging and, in some respects, non-market environment.
A meeting entitled “Social dialogue – the future of LW Bogdanka and the region in the context of ongoing environmental activities” was held at the Lachert Manor in Ciechanki (Puchaczów municipality), organised by Lubelski Węgiel “Bogdanka” S.A.
Lubelski Węgiel Bogdanka S.A. continues to expand its presence in foreign markets, particularly in India and countries of the global South. During the 6th Polish Mining Congress, the company signed the agreement on establishment of the “IndusComp” Polish Industrial Competence Cluster and, in parallel, launched its cooperation with the British company, Mining Competence & Advisory Ltd under the previously concluded Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Lubelski Węgiel Bogdanka S.A., one of the leading hard coal producers in Poland, adopted a Development Strategy up to 2030, with an outlook until 2035. The strategy is a response to the accelerating energy transition and increasing regulatory requirements in the industry.
Representatives of LW Bogdanka SA visited Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa, continuing the activities initiated by the Letter of Intent signed on 30th November 2024. During the meeting, selected companies of the JSW Capital Group were also presented.
LW Bogdanka confirms that a series of several seismic tremors were recorded on the night of 27-28 December 2024. These tremors were felt at the mine site, but did not affect its operation or occupational safety.
Bogdanka reported that in view of the current market situation, it has decided to carry out an impairment test of its assets, resulting in a write-down of PLN 1,174 million. This has the nature of an accounting operation and does not affect the current condition of the company. The Company published Current Report No. 28/2024 on this matter on 27 August 2024.
The difficult market environment, the pressures under which the mining industry operates, the need to optimize costs and focus on the Company's core business resulted in the need to revise the existing marketing expenditures at LW Bogdanka. Following an in-depth analysis, the Management Board has decided to withdraw from some sponsorship projects.
