Bogdanka, PGE Dystrybucja and the municipality of Łęczna commence cooperation on a new economic zone

Lubelski Węgiel "Bogdanka" S.A., PGE Dystrybucja S.A. Oddział Lublin and the Municipality of Łęczna have signed a letter of intent on cooperation in creation of a new economic zone in the Podzamcze and Stara Wieś villages in the municipality of Łęczna. The planned zone will cover the total area of approximately 180 hectares and shall become a space for the development of modern industry, investment and new jobs.

Lubelski Węgiel Bogdanka S.A. continues to expand its presence in foreign markets, particularly in India and countries of the global South. During the 6th Polish Mining Congress, the company signed the agreement on establishment of the “IndusComp” Polish Industrial Competence Cluster and, in parallel, launched its cooperation with the British company, Mining Competence & Advisory Ltd under the previously concluded Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

Bogdanka monitors seismic situation in the region

LW Bogdanka confirms that a series of several seismic tremors were recorded on the night of 27-28 December 2024. These tremors were felt at the mine site, but did not affect its operation or occupational safety.

Bogdanka reflects the impact of green transition processes in its results

Bogdanka reported that in view of the current market situation, it has decided to carry out an impairment test of its assets, resulting in a write-down of PLN 1,174 million. This has the nature of an accounting operation and does not affect the current condition of the company. The Company published Current Report No. 28/2024 on this matter on 27 August 2024.

The difficult market environment, the pressures under which the mining industry operates, the need to optimize costs and focus on the Company's core business resulted in the need to revise the existing marketing expenditures at LW Bogdanka. Following an in-depth analysis, the Management Board has decided to withdraw from some sponsorship projects.
