Bogdanka, 21 April 2017

LW BOGDANKA S.A., the most advanced and most efficient hard coal mine in Poland and a member of the Enea Group, one of the leaders in Poland’s power market, won the contest for the Deloitte Central European Sustainability Report Award 2016 (commonly referred to as the Green Frog Award – GFA) for its 2015 Integrated Report.

Five countries participated in this year’s contest for the Deloitte Central European Sustainability Report Award: Croatia, Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, and Hungary. A total of 65 reports were submitted to the national level, 13 out of them advanced to the regional level, and 5 competed for the main award.

LW Bogdanka’s Integrated Report was awarded for demonstrating strong ties between CSR issues and indicator data which give readers the reasons for selecting individual indicators.  Members of the jury appreciated the Company’s deep understanding of the relation between business activities and human rights, especially from the perspective of the mining business. LW Bogdanka was also recognised for the way it described the dialogue with the stakeholders before an investment is made, which the members of the jury saw as a demonstration of a sensible approach to Corporate Social Responsibility. The awards and distinctions were officially presented on 19 April 2017 during the conference on Responsible Business Activities in the Light of New Regulations on Non-financial Data Disclosure Obligation held at the Ministry of Development in Warsaw.

The Green Frog Award 2016 is yet another award which LW Bogdanka received for its 2015 Integrated Report. In 2016 LW Bogdanka received the Main Award and the Award of the Minister of Development in the 10th jubilee edition of the contest for Social Reports organised by the Responsible Business Forum and Deloitte.

“The principles of business social responsibility have for years made an integral part of Bogdanka’s development strategy. We treat this very seriously. It is also of great importance for our Strategy until 2025 that we announced in February 2017. That’s why we are very glad that the jury of the contest for the Deloitte Central European Sustainability Report Award 2016 appreciated those elements of our report that they believed attested to our sensible approach to CSR. Other stakeholders, including the capital market community, also value responsible business practices – Bogdanka has for seven years now made part of the prestigious RESPECT Index, comprising companies listed on the WSE’s main floor which to the highest degree satisfy the requirements regarding the respect for the natural environment, activities supporting the development and safety of employees and local communities, as well as corporate governance, information governance, and investor relations,” said Krzysztof Szlaga, President of the Management Board of Lubelski Węgiel Bogdanka.

The Green Frog Award was launched in 2009 in Hungary and gradually widened its scope to embrace other countries of the Central Europe.
