Entrepreneurship has many faces – Bogdanka is one of them
The Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) is the largest and most important event promoting entrepreneurship. Its idea is to promote entrepreneurial approach with people, educating them with this respect, and encouraging taking up business initiatives. The idea of GEW was originated by the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Gordon Brown and the British organisation Make Your Mark, as well as the chairman of the American-based Kauffman Foundation – Carl Schramm. The authors' goal was to promote entrepreneurship understood as not only running one’s own business but also as aware shaping one’s professional path.
The event was a great opportunity for presenting best practice incorporated in LW Bogdanka S.A. during two workshops: What about the CSR? Ethical, sustained and responsible business in practice – facts and myths– conducted by Katarzyna Zabratańska (from the Department of Marketing, Public Relations and CSR) and DOS software. Practical approach to managing project portfolio – conducted by Marlena Bernatek, Artur Halbina and Tomasz Kuchta (from the Department of Project Management, Strategic Management and Standardisation). The meetings gathered nearly 30 people interested in effective tools of corporate social responsibility, employee volunteering, corporate foundations, as well as practical aspects of managing through projects and project team building.
During the workshops, solutions applied in the Company were presented, as well as the participants exchanged their experiences. The workshops participants unanimously underlined that such meetings are in demand, since they present a real application of particular solutions in a real company. Moreover, it is an effective platform for exchanging experience, establishing contacts and learning by doing.
This year’s Lublin edition (17-23 November 2014) was coordinated by Forum Młodych Lewiatan. GEW participants could learn about communication in business, coaching, sex roles in business, and preparing a CV in the English language and other subjects.
