Lubelski Węgiel „Bogdanka” S.A., undertaking several initiatives in the of natural environment protection, makes efforts in order to comply with the sustained development principle which has been clearly emphasised in the ecological policy of our country. In 21st century, the implementation of aforesaid policy must be expressive and directed toward the maintenance of natural resources for future generations.

As a result of EU accession, the new tasks associated with the adaptation of our company to the new regulations in the scope of environment protection must be performed by the mine „Bogdanka”. There are many legal acts, introduced recently without any implementation provisions (e.g. the regulations associated with trading in the scope of greenhouse gases emissions) additionally impeding and retarding the adaptation of our company to EU standards. Irrespective of aforesaid problems, the program of sustained development has been implemented by Lubelski Węgiel „Bogdanka” S.A. since several years. This program is generally defined as “development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”. In our company it is demonstrated by particular care for environment in order to enable its use by future generations in the scope enabling the proper development and functioning.
